1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using Serene Stories, you agree to these Terms of Use. Serene Stories is operated under the Serene Slumbers brand. If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not create an account or use the service.

2. Eligibility

Serene Stories is intended for adults — parents, carers, guardians and educators — aged 18 and over. The app is designed to help you create stories for the children in your care. It is not intended for direct use by children. By creating an account, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old.

3. User Accounts

You are responsible for:

• Keeping your login credentials secure and not sharing them with others.
• All activity that happens under your account.
• Providing accurate information when creating your account.
• Contacting us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised or used without permission.

4. Free Story & Subscription Terms

• Every new account receives one free personalised story.
• Once your free story has been used, an active subscription is required to continue creating or saving personalised stories.
• Subscription pricing is clearly shown before any purchase.
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel before the next billing date.
• You can cancel at any time. Cancelling keeps your premium access until the end of your current billing period — you will not lose access immediately.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the service for any unlawful purpose or in a way that breaks the law in your country.
• Submit harmful, abusive, discriminatory, offensive or illegal content.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, disrupt, hack or exploit the platform or its underlying systems.
• Copy, redistribute or commercially resell the service or any part of it.
• Abuse the AI story generation feature — for example, by generating content that is not related to children's stories or by repeatedly overwhelming the system.

6. Story Ownership

• You retain ownership of the personalised stories created for your account.
• Stories are intended for personal, non-commercial use — for sharing with your family and the children in your care.
• Serene Stories only processes your prompts and story content to generate, store and deliver stories to you.
• We may use anonymous, aggregated usage data to understand trends and improve the service.
• Your personal stories are never sold to third parties.

7. AI-Generated Content

• Stories are generated using artificial intelligence based on the information you provide.
• We design our system to create safe, age-appropriate stories, but AI is not perfect.
• Parents and carers remain responsible for reviewing stories before sharing them with children.

8. Shared Stories

• You are responsible for who you share your story links with.
• Recipients may save a copy of a shared story to their own account, depending on their subscription and the permissions you set.
• We are not responsible for how shared links are distributed after you share them.

9. Intellectual Property

• The Serene Stories software, branding, artwork, logos and platform remain the property of Serene Slumbers or its licensors.
• These Terms do not transfer any ownership of the platform itself to you.

10. Service Availability

• We aim for high availability but cannot guarantee uninterrupted, error-free service.
• Features may change, improve or be discontinued over time as we evolve the service.

11. Suspension or Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that:

• Violate these Terms.
• Abuse the platform or its features.
• Engage in unlawful activity.

You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time.

12. Limitation of Liability

• The service is provided "as is" to the maximum extent permitted by law.
• We are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the service.
• Our maximum liability is limited to the amount you paid us during the previous 12 months.
• Nothing in these Terms limits any consumer rights you may have under the mandatory laws of your country that cannot legally be excluded.

13. Force Majeure

We are not responsible for delays or interruptions caused by events outside our reasonable control, including internet outages, natural disasters, government actions or third-party service failures.

14. Changes to These Terms

• These Terms may be updated occasionally to reflect changes in the service or legal requirements.
• We will communicate significant changes where reasonably possible.
• Continued use of the service after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence provide additional rights that cannot legally be excluded.
